Our reason to be
Motivo means 'reason to be' in Italian. We added "N" as in the English word mountain or French montagne to remind mountainous regions of France, Italy and Spain, birthplace and terroir of numerous gourmet products. The "M" logo is a reminder of the gate marking the entrance of vineyards and other agricultural farmlands.
Montivo's 'reason to be' is to establish strong and sustainable distribution routes to Asia for our producing partners and bring a wide selection of original products to our clients in Asia.
Timeline
1989 - French retailing giant Auchan opens a subsidiary in Tokyo (Auchan Japan K.K.) and start exporting wine and spirits to Japan.
2005 - Plaisir Selection, a Franco-German company founded in the 1980's by French Chef Gaston Lenotre, takes over Auchan Japan K.K. Distribution activities then expand to China, Taiwan, and South Korea. Development of several lineups of gourmet foods products.
2016 - Vinadeis (largest French wine cooperative), takes over Plaisir Selection activities. Vinadeis Distribution S.A.S. is established in France and the Tokyo office renamed Vinadeis Japan K.K.
2017 - InVivo (largest French cooperative union), takes a majority stake in Vinadeis Distribution and Vinadeis Japan.
2019 (July) - Following a business transfer contract with InVivo, Guillaume Rassat takes over the Food and Beverage activities of Vinadeis Distribution and establish Montivo.
2021 - to be continued..
